This Peach and Raspberry Smoothie is a simple way of using tinned and frozen fruit for a fresh and fruity drink. Get the recipe below.

Preserved fruit

When you hear the phrase preserved fruit you probably think of jams and chutneys. But today I'm talking about fruit that has been tinned or frozen to keep them at their best and ready to eat. That's because they're fantastic ingredients to have in the cupboards and freezer both for convenience and cost.

Buying fruits preserved in this way is often cheaper and you don't need to worry about buying fresh fruit that may go off quicker than you can use it! (The latter happens to me ALL the time!)

In this recipe I use two of my favourite preserved fruits - tinned peaches and frozen raspberries. I love tinned peaches as they are the perfect, melt in the mouth texture. They taste perfectly ripe and are lovely and sweet. Frozen raspberries are another favourite of mine because they are so versatile, when they thaw they pretty much go back to the same state they would be in if they were fresh!

The other great thing about tinned and frozen fruit is that they don't lose their nutritional value (or if they do not by much). So you'll be pleased to know this recipe contains 2 of your 5 a day.

How to make this Peach and Raspberry Smoothie

So you've got your tinned peaches and frozen raspberries ready to go, but what else will you need? The full list of ingredients is as follows:

  • Tinned peaches
  • Frozen raspberries
  • Plain plant based yogurt (soy or coconut work well)
  • Orange juice

You'll also need a high speed blender - I use a Vitamix.

All you do is pop the ingredients into your blender and blitz until its your desired consistency.

I like to serve my smoothies over ice which you may like to do too. Top with more raspberries and enjoy!
