This Cherry Bakewell Smoothie is a delicious cherry and almond smoothie made with frozen berries, oats and almond milk - no banana! Get the recipe below.

Cake for breakfast?

My Cherry Bakewell Smoothie (cherry and almond smoothie) is full of fruity, nutty flavour making it reminiscent of one of my favourite sweet treats, the cherry Bakewell. It almost feels like you're having cake for breakfast.

By using frozen cherries you get a real burst of sweet cherry flavour. The almond butter and almond milk then adds a savoury nuttiness to the smoothie.

I'm sure some of you will be pleased to know that this recipe DOESN'T use banana. So many smoothies do but they often leave a banana flavoured after taste or, in my opinion, make the smoothie too thick.

I hate thick smoothies, this is a much more drinkable consistency. If you do prefer them thick and more oats and / or less milk.

Optional extras

There are a couple of ways you can adjust this recipe. Here are just a few:

  • Swapping out different plant milks e.g. oat milk or coconut milk for a slightly different flavour
  • Adding cocoa powder to make it cherry and chocolate
  • Adding protein powder to up your protein intake
  • Adding a drop or two of almond extract to really BOOST the almond flavour.
