What could possibly make French Toast better? How about taking two slices, and stuffing them with Nutella and strawberries? You can thank me later...

Breakfasts for special occasions

Weekday breakfasts tend to be quite sensible. Maybe a bowl of granola or porridge.

At the weekend you might make something a little more decadent. Perhaps you'd make waffles or pancakes.

But, some occasions call for an extra special breakfast! And that's where this Nutella and Strawberry Stuffed French Toast comes in.

Take two slices of bread, spread them with Nutella and sandwich them with strawberries. Dip the bread in the batter and fry until golden.

You'll end up with french toast oozing with warm chocolate spread and full of the sweetness of strawberries.

It's a real celebration!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 100 ml double cream
  • 50 ml milk
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod seeds
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 tablespoon Nutella or similar chocolate spread
  • 8 strawberries sliced

Instructions

  • Spread the nutella on to one side of each slice of bread.
  • Lay out the strawberries on two of the slices of bread.
  • Use the other two slices of bread to make a Nutella and strawberry sandwich - give them a good push down to meld the two slices of bread together
  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, cream, milk and vanilla.
  • Place each sandwich into the custard mix, let it soak up the mix for a few moments before flipping and soaking the other side in the custard.
  • Heat a knob of butter in a griddle pan on a high heat.
  • Once the butter has melted, sprinkle the sandwiches with brown sugar and place straight into the pan.
  • Cook for 2 - 5 minutes until the custard has cooked through and the outside is crispy.
  • Flip over and cook on the other side for another 2 - 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the pan and allow to cool slightly before cutting in half and enjoying!

The sounds delicious - totally my kind of breakfast! I love your recipe video too. Great to see how you actually prepared it. That's really helpful. I also wanted to let you know that you've not actually submitted your link to the Breakfast Club or posted the Breakfast Club linky badge in your post. I got a trackback alert this morning which is how I found your post, but it looks like your link hasn't worked. Could you try again?
