What is a Poison Apple Cocktail?
The Poison Apple Cocktail is essentially apple juice with a bite. It’s an apple flavoured cocktail that is reminiscent of the poison apple in sleeping beauty. It’s sweet and sugary which makes it oh so tempting but is boozy so you better not drink too many or you’ll be feeling it’s effects!
What is a Poison Apple Halloween Cocktail made from?
The Poison Apple Cocktail is made from:
- Apple juice
- Cherry Brandy
- Vodka
- Toffee Sauce
- Red Food Colouring
The apple juice, cherry brandy and vodka are what make the cocktail itself. The toffee sauce and red food colouring are use to make the drips.
How do you get the bloody drips?
To make the drips simply mix toffee sauce with red food colouring. Ensure it’s mixed well to get an even red tone. I think the darker the colour the better.
I used Christmas Red from Wilton.
It’s also better to have a thick toffee sauce that won’t drip as much. You can used store bought sauce or whip one up out of:
- 370ml vegan condensed milk
- 60g vegan butter
- 50 light brown sugar
Simply heat in a pan until the ingredients are all dissolved then take off the heat and leave to cool.
Pro tip
Freeze your glasses before creating the drips so they set firm before pouring in the rest of the cocktail.
