A festive mocktail for all the family
Christmas is time to eat, drink and be merry. Often this means copious amounts of booze but as I’ve scaled back my own drinking in the last year I have noticed at Christmas there aren’t many low or no-alcohol drinks options.
This non-alcoholic festive punch is my attempt at making a fun and fruity drink that can be enjoyed by everyone. Whether you’re young or old, the designated driver or tee total, this Non Alcoholic Christmas Punch is for you!
There are some fantastic soda companies out there (Square Root Soda and Cloudwater Soda I’m looking at you). But, sometimes you don’t want to spend a fortune on bottled soft drinks.
This Non Alcoholic Christmas Punch is made with two types of fruit juice (cranberry and clementine) then given some extra fizz thanks to sparkling water.
I like to serve it over ice with clementine, cranberries, pomegranate and red currents to garnish. You could also add a sprig of rosemary!
How to serve punch
The fantastic thing about this recipe is you can make one glass at a time, or fill up an entire punch bowl and let guests help themselves. The ration of cranberry juice to clementine juice to sparkling water is 1:3:1. Follow that as a guide and you will have no troubles scaling the recipe up.
Can I make this punch boozy?
Of course you can, who am I to tell you what to do?
If you want to add alcohol to this punch I’d recommend vodka and/or Cointreau. Vodka doesn’t impart too much flavour and so it doesn’t affect the overall taste.
Cointreau on the other hand is an orange flavoured liqueur so hold back on the clementine juice and add a glugg (up to 50ml) of Cointreau instead.
