This bright and vibrant smoothie is made from raspberries and mango as well as a healthy dose of the superfood chia seeds!

January is a difficult month for a lot of people after they’ve over-indulged during the festive season. There a lot of pressure to find a way to shed the pounds. But I don’t go in for fad diets, detoxes or cleanses, you won’t find that here.

I’ve learnt pretty quickly that the way you lose weight is to eat less and move more. It’s important to “eat the rainbow” packing in lots of delicious fruits and veggies into your diet to ensure you’re getting all the nutrients you need.

Breakfast is also the most important meal of the day so why not get some of your 5 a day in the form of a smoothie and start your day off right!

Fruity smoothies

There’s no brighter and sunnier fruit than the mango so it’s a must in any pick-me-up smoothie.

We always have a batch of frozen raspberries in the freezer so they are another staple for me when it comes to whipping up a breakfast smoothie!

In this recipe you’ll also find a banana and yogurt as well as chia seeds.

Chia seed a fantastic source of both fibre and protein they seemed an obvious choice for adding to breakfast and so they found their way into this Raspberry and Mango Smoothie recipe.

Since trying chia seeds in smoothies I can testify they definitely make you feel fuller for longer. They are a really simple addition to your smoothie yet have so many fantastic benefits.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 mangoes peeled and stone removed
  • 100 g raspberries
  • 1 banana
  • 6 tbsp coconut yogurt
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 100 ml orange juice

Instructions
 

  • Place all of the ingredients into a high powered blended and blitz on high for 2-3 minutes or until the mixture is smooth.
  • Add extra yogurt, as required, until the smoothie is the desired consistency.

    • Hey Laura! They are so tasty they don’t really taste of anything to be honest! They are just a tiny bit larger than a poppy seed and not all that different tbh! They are a good way of bulking out a smoothie (like you might do with oats) without really adding any extra flavour 🙂

  • My favourite smoothie for breakfast is the following -:
    ! x banana
    Handful of ice
    1 x cup of baby spinach
    2 x tbsp of yoghurt
    1 x good squirt of honey
    250 ml of coconut or soya milk
    Blend till smooth and enjoy
