This low alcohol, Tall Coconut Cocktail is made with Smirnoff vodka and fresh fruits. This post was sponsored by TheBar.com

Low alcohol drinks

As we all become more conscious of what we put into our bodies and the lasting effects, low and no alcohol drinks are becoming more and more popular.

Whether you like to enjoy a cocktail over brunch, or on a night out with friends, cocktails are best enjoyed with your best friends. They are fun playful drinks, made for sipping while gossiping and low alcohol or "shim" cocktails are no different. They come in all shapes and sizes, and lots of different flavours. The only difference it that they are low proof, often coming in at just 1 alcoholic unit per drink.

What a lot of people don't realise is that some of their favourite cocktails are already low-alcohol, 1 unit drinks. Pimms which we've all sipped slowly on a summer afternoon is a shim. Brunch cocktail the mimosa is another popular 1 unit cocktail. Even the very trendy right now Aperol Spritz is a shim! But TheBar.com and I wanted to come up with something new and exciting and so here I am sharing The Tall Coconut.

The Tall Coconut Cocktail is not only a low in alcohol but also light on calories and full of flavour. This cocktail combines crisp and pure Smirnoff No.21 Vodka with sharp, crushed blueberries. Agave adds the sweetness we crave and low-fat coconut water makes this a long, tropical drink that will have you dreaming of summer!

Shim cocktails are the next big thing and this Tall Coconut Cocktail comes in at just one unit find the recipe at Supper in the Suburbs

1 unit or not this looks absolutely awesome. I rarely drink these days so a low alcoholic drink is probably best!

Thanks Becky! I'm definitely leaning towards low alcohol cocktails. The alcohol is often pretty important for taste so it's nice to have something other than fruit juice with an umbrella in it!

I love anything with coconut water but I don't drink so I would try it minus the alcohol.

Light on the alcohol and calories. Not a bad idea given how easy it is to over-indulge.
