Ingredients

  • 100 g redcurrants
  • 50 g caster sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • 50 ml vodka
  • 25 ml triple sec e.g. Cointreau or Grand Marnier
  • 1 lime juice only
  • redcurrants for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Combine 100 grams redcurrants with the sugar and water in a saucepan.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  • Strain the mixture through a sieve, pressing the berries to extract the maximum amount of juice.
  • Let it cool before assembling the cocktail.
  • Fill a shaker with ice.
  • Add vodka, triple sec, redcurrant syrup, and lime juice.
  • Shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds to ensure it’s well-chilled and mixed.
  • Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
  • Garnish with a skewer of fresh red currants.
