Kitchen design inspiration

We’re finally at the end of my design inspiration series. I’ve really enjoyed putting these together! It’s a shame we only need to decorate the one house… If you haven’t already seen them, why not check out my bathroom, dining room and lounge design ideas too!

For now, here are some of my ideas for decorating our kitchen. I’ve always dreamed of starting my kitchen from scratch, picking out the cupboards, door handles, tiles etc but the kitchen in the house we are buying was only installed 3 years ago so although it’s not quite my style it seems a shame to rip it out. Still, if you’re embarking on a complete kitchen makeover project here’s some design inspiration! Let me know your favourite in the comments below.

1. Retro diner

Amerihome chrome kitchen table

Eat Here Arrow Marquee Wall Art

Bring some retro style to your kitchen with this American 1950’s diner style. I’ve gone for shiny, glossy red appliances and lots of chrome, all on a backdrop of white tiles. I also love the idea of having these retro stools against the breakfast bar. I can see myself making a banana split or two in here!

2. Sunny side up

Bring some sunshine into your kitchen with light wooden surfaces, white washed cupboards and a vibrant pop of colour (or 4!) A lot of these items come from one of my favourite designers, Orla Kiely. Her designs are always bright and funky. You can’t go wrong!

3. Marble marvel

Home styles kitchen island

This natural, minimalist look uses marble, light wood and brushed copper for a bright and airy kitchen design. I love the marble kitchen island, a really handy work space for preparing veggies or decorating cakes. The hexagonal, honeycomb tiles are a really fun twist on the kitchen splash back.

It just goes to show that you can do a kitchen makeover just by thinking about the style of your appliances, server ware and utensils! White tiles are always a great backdrop for any design so that you can refresh your kitchen design as often as you like.

Which of the three designs are your favourite? Let me know in the comments below!
